Micropiles

Micropiles

A Micropile is a small diameter (less than 300mm) drilled pile, composed of placed or injection grouted, with some steel reinforced element to resist tension or compression loads.

Micropiles, which can include screw piles or microjet piles, are commonly used in low overhead sites where other bearing piles for supporting weight (either on a wall or a floor) cannot be implemented due to access or difficult ground conditions. These smaller (4” to 6”) diameter micropiles are installed with special drilling equipment, some capable of entering a standard door width. Screw piles can also be grouted if used in compression to increase buckling strength.
