Westview Terminal Marine Anchors

Project Description

The construction of a new wood pellet shipping plant built in Prince Rupert to supply wood pellet fuel for the overseas market required the construction of a new shipping facility.

Our initial work was the installation of 8 tie-down anchors to secure 2 cofferdams at the facility.

Using permeation grouting, we filled any voids below the cofferdams to prevent water uplift of the dams.

5 new dolphins were constructed and each dolphin required 8 150ft long anchors. 5 anchors were double bundled #18 anchors and 3 were triple bundled #18 anchors for a total of 40 anchors on the marine facility.

The work included the difficult task of testing the bundled anchors with a special supplied 500T test jack.

The marine contract work and additional land based work, were completed in 5 months during the spring and summer of 2013.
