Vancouver Convention Centre

Over a two-year period, Southwest Contracting completed extensive excavation, environmental remediation, shoreline protection, and civil works for the construction of the new Vancouver Convention Centre. The project included approximately 125,000 cubic yards of excavation, the placement of 25,000 metric tonnes of shoreline protection rock, water treatment and truck wash systems, contaminated soil removal, utility installations, and the creation of a new marine habitat beneath the facility.

Much of the work was completed within the tidal zone and required carefully coordinated scheduling to meet strict environmental and LEED requirements while supporting the construction of foundations, a float plane terminal, and associated infrastructure.
