Project Description

The Bevan project is a 366-unit townhouse development being undertaken for Burnaby Housing Corporation and managed by Mosaic Ave Construction. SWC was contracted to perform all earthworks, underground utility installations, retaining wall construction, and site grading. Throughout the project, SWC will move approximately 90,000 m3 of excavation material and place approximately 20,000 m3 of fill to achieve the final site design.

Project Description

Two towers and a low-rise building in the heart of Burquitlam. The first phase of the Burquitlam Park District will introduce 40- and 33-storey condo towers, housing a total of 663 strata homes.

Cameron Community Centre

Project Description

Construction of a new community centre includes an array of new features, including two new swimming pools, a weight room, fitness area, double gym, café, and teaching and catering spaces. The project includes bulk excavation and shotcrete shoring, detailed excavation and backfill, and onsite civil construction.

The new library will be four times larger than the original Cameron facility.

Project Description

Citizen is a 66-storey tower set to become one of Metrotown’s tallest skyscrapers in Burnaby, BC. SWC was awarded the excavation and shoring for this 70-ft deep parkade. Excavation included remediation of contaminated material from existing grade down to the bottom of the excavation. This presented unique challenges to ensure our workers remained safe throughout the project and contaminated material was delineated from clean material limiting additional costs for Anthem Properties. The project started July 2024 and finished October 2025.

Clayburn Creek Habitat Restoration

Project Description

Installing two different types of natural wood structures in Clayburn Creek to help prevent bank erosion and enhance fish habitat as part of a test program to assess the effectiveness of the designs by KWL Engineering. Work was undertaken during fish windows and periods of low stream flow, with crews working in riparian areas without causing damage to the riverbank.

Project Description

The Canada Way Data Centre is a two-storey infrastructure facility designed to support critical operations and technology systems. Southwest Contracting was awarded the site preparation and civil works contract in September 2025, including building and diesel fuel tank excavation, shoring, site stripping, and the installation of underground utilities.
Construction began in September 2025 and is scheduled for completion in October 2026.

Project Description

Goldfinch is a two-building complex with over 180 homes set in West Coquitlam. SWC was awarded the excavation, shoring, watermain, sanitary, storm, Hydro/Tel utilities, detention tank installation, and roadworks. The project started in April 2026 and is scheduled for completion in 2027.

Fraser Riverbank Stabilization

Project Description

Assisting Vancouver Pile Driving with the placement of riprap spurs in the Fraser River to slow stream flows in the vicinity of the Inch Creek waterline crossing beneath the riverbed, helping to prevent erosion and scouring around the pipe. Work was undertaken during the fish window period, with crews working in riparian areas without causing damage to the riverbank.

Project Description

Excavation and shoring for new Ice rink and dry arena facility with underground parking and arenas at the Langley Events Centre. This project had very poor ground conditions and posed challenges for excavation / disposal as well as shoring. The project was substantially completed in September 2024, and we returned to site in June 2026 to complete the last small piece of the building parkade access at the clients request.

Musqueam Creek

Project Description

The Musqueam Creek Project was a remediation and restoration initiative undertaken in response to the damage caused by the 2021 atmospheric river event. Extensive sediment deposits reduced the capacity of Musqueam Creek and adversely affected drainage in the surrounding community. SWC’s work helped restore the creek channel and its valuable salmon habitat, rehabilitate and protect creek banks from future erosion, and re-establish effective drainage for neighbouring residential properties.

Project Description

The Port Coquitlam Transit Centre Project was undertaken to expand and modernize the existing bus depot facilities. The project includes the construction of additional maintenance repair bays, new office spaces, a bus wash facility, and significant upgrades to the site’s infrastructure and utility networks. SWC was responsible for the installation of micropiles, remediation of contaminated soils, excavation and grading activities, underground utility construction, and final paving works to support the upgraded transit operations facility.
