As part of the development of the TECK Acute Care Center for the BC Children’s and BC Women’s Hospital, SWC was contracted to provide all of the site civil work, as well as the excavation and shoring.

Site civil work included installation of the sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water main, communication ducts, an Atlantis-D storm tank, and and a decontamination tank. 

Earthworks and shoring included bulk excavation, detail excavation, 7300 lineal meters of drilling and anchor installation. 

This project showcases the versatility of SWC. As it was a design-build project, changes to design and drawing revisions were frequent. Having Excavation, Shoring and Civil divisions which work together and communicate effectively was of paramount importance to providing high-quality, efficient work for the successful completion of the project.
