PROJECT SUMMARY

Engineer: Thurber Engineering Ltd. / InterCAD

SCOPE OF WORK

435m² of permanent rock carved shotcrete

185 permanent hollow core anchors (1,715m of anchors total)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Partington Creek development on Burke Mountain in Coquitlam required a number of retaining walls to be constructed for the development.  The retaining walls consisted of Allen Block Walls, Stone Strong Walls and permanent shotcrete retaining walls.

On the project Southwest Contracting Ltd (SWC) installed 3 permanent retaining walls as part of 2 different phases of the overall development.  The permanent retaining walls consisted of permanent metalized hollow core anchors with a 200mm thick temporary shotcrete facing.  Once the temporary shotcrete facing was installed it was overlaid with a permanent architectural shotcrete facing.  The client for this project specified a natural rock look for the permanent shotcrete.
