TELUS Gardens

Project Description

Shoring and excavation for the TELUS Gardens Project included demolition of existing structures, 81,600 cubic yards of excavation, 52,000 square feet of shotcrete shoring and installation of a utility truss spanning 115 feet.

Located along Georgia Street in downtown Vancouver, the TELUS Gardens project took place over an eight-month period. The site consisted of two lots, separated by a lane containing major TELUS and Hydro ducts that needed to be supported during construction. A 115-foot long utility truss was installed to support the two utilities, which effectively divided the site into two smaller sites. To minimize the loading along Georgia Street, Southwest Contracting Ltd. utilized a dozer to move material under the utility support.
